it's really pretty straightforward to do the job and thus why is was descriptive

The most difficult thing is realizing that they call it "modification aka mods" for a reason

so the collector does in fact touch the drivers floor plan= if you don't like it, get a hammer and modify the floor pan from underneath

so the 3 inch cat back is difficult to get aligned and bolted onto the new y pipe= 6 foot pry bar and there you go.

But those are basics not specific to header installs

honestly, since it's such a pain in the butt to gain access the best advice is about the header gaskets. Don't go cheap and use what comes with the header and don't fall for "name brand" of Felpro.

You do not want to re-visit the job of the gasket thus why I strongly encourage Percy's. Sure they will cost you $30 or so but you would gladly pay $100-$200 to just make the exhaust leak go away after using the other brand of gasket.
Me and my buddy in high school both had Camaros, mine a 1975 350/4 speed, his a 1976 305/3-speed. We put headers on both in one day in my backyard, no lift (of course we had hacked off the stock exhaust before hand) Ahh...those were the days. I'm sure I could do it, it just seems to be much more, er, "labor intensive" on these cars. I have read your header install post several times and I just keep coming back to "unbolt the engine" to raise it up...that part scares me...removing valve covers? I want to keep my EGR, and air pump and all the emissions stuff. Cut off the old y-pipe, and replace with what? I want to keep my cat, so do i still need to cut off the y-pipe? Not a 2-3 hour job like the old days...lol

if you get long tube headers you will need the y pipe that goes with them. you can get headers with the egr and air hookup and they will weld up to converter
