Default plugs

I was originally planning on having ashop change my plugs and wires for $200 but have instead decided that I'm going to do it myself and save some money. Now my brother said that since my car has over 160k on it that I should probably just put in regular spark plugs and not the platinum tipped ones because he said that even though I can't see smokeor smell it my car might be burning a little oil (I can't tell by oil level because it leaks oil and I'm constantly adding some) and from what he knows he said just a small amount of oil can foul out platinum tipped plugs very easily. I'm not sure if this is true or not but my question to you all is this true? I mean I would like to have platinum plugs in it but if they are just going to foul out then it would be stupid to put them in in the first place since they are so hard to change in the first place. What would you all recommend to do?

No, NGK's platinum and iridium plugs both say they have anti-fouling characteristics.
