Default Oil Sensor

I have got a question that maybe someone can help me out with. The oil sensor that tells when to change your oil in the 01' V6 camaros does it determine when the oil needs to be changed based off what the factory specs have been inputed into the computer? or does it really sense bad oil no matter what the mileage is?

It doesn't sense the condition of your oil. Your computer figures the type of driving miles the car has since the last time the oil light was reset. Short runs are harder on the engine, as compared to highway driving. As an example, if you do a lot of city stop and go driving, your oil life monitor will turn the oil light on sooner than if you hopped on the highway and drove cross country. Also, be sure to reset your oil monitor after changing the oil, even if the light hasn't gone on yet. It's not done automatically when the oil gets changed, you have to physically reset it.

^ He's referring to his oil life (not condition) monitor light in the dash. Tells when to change the oil. Maybe your year car didn't have one? His does.
