Default Octane Booster?

Can anyone recommend a good octane booster

Trying to troubleshoot engine ping and want to rule out low octane

I know my Waldomart has it, Auto Zone probably does too.

Octane Booster will do nothing for you as it has been proven over and over again not to boost octane or boost it by a super small amount (LESS THEN 1 POINT) If you think bad gas is the issue go to a BP or Sunoco and fill up with 93 octane. If that does not fix your issue try adding some sea foam to the gas and air lines.

On a side note what kind of set up are you running? And is the gas because the car has been sitting or did you fill up in at a bad pump?

They give you no benefit, if the engine doesn't require higher octane.

As said above higher octane (fuels) dont have any affect unless the ecu is tuned for it by adding (boost, timing, ect) I am not sure on what set up you are running but if you are getting knock on any factory or near factory car it should not be from a lack of octane. You can go down and fill up with 93 octane and add a can of sea foam if you think bad fuel is the issue.

I do not recomend octane boosters for any one. I personaly think they are a waste of time and money if you want a higher octane fuel you can buy 1, 5, and 55 galon drums and have them sent to your door ranging from from un-leaded 101-113 to C16 .

One more thing. If your knock sensor system is working properly, you shouldn't be hearing any engine ping. If the engine hasn't been modified to where it would affect timing, I would first look into the knock sensor, and related, as being a possible cause of the ping, not your gas.

Thanks for all the feedback

How can I troubleshoot the knock sensor ? Is there only one sensor?

What about EGR valve?

Dealer is shrugging it off as no big deal, but I want it fixed
