Default O2 sensors

I'm gonna get a rainy day coming up here and would really like to replace a bad 02 sensor.....i know there are three on 97 z28's......i plan to get it scanned to figure out which one it is exactly.......my question is whether anyone knows of any links/guides to help me out during the process....i may try to do the plugs and wires while im in there....(i know it will be a VERY fun-filled stress-free day) but it needs to be done......my chiltons guide offers little help(no pics) if anyone has any sources thatd be super......

Don't use Bosch O2 sensors, they don't like to live in Camaros. Try Delco or Denso. Went through 3 Bosch sensors in a month, till I finally put in a OEM Delco & been good for several years. Use a scan tool to look at the sensor output. It should vary rapidly centering on 450 MV, if it does not change the sensor is sick.

Except the downstream sensor, however. Little change is acceptable, since it's mostly a catalyst monitor. The two upstream, as Pete stated, should have a clear voltage fluctuation. Simply replace the one that shows no change or sluggish change in accordance to the trouble code being present.

To remove, it's best to use a lift (for simpler access) and it's also wise to work on the vehicle COLD. Simply disconnect the pigtail wire on the old O2 sensor and unscrew it (auto parts stores offer a special O2 sensor tool which really comes in handy. A proper sized wrench will suffice, but be gentle). The installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to apply a good coat of antisieze lubricant on the threads of the new sensor. This will make future removal easy and painfree.
