Does anyone know how accurate are the factory gauges are? I have a 2000 Z28 and the oil press. gauge seems a bit erratic (sp). Any one know?

Try replacing the sending unit. It's a cheap part and is easy to install.

What do you mean by erratic? It is normal for it to move a bit as rpm goes und down.

for example, at constant speed on the expressway, the gauge will drop from 60 psi to 40 psi, then back to 60 psi after about ten seconds or so....

I guess the only way to monitor the actual pressure is to either install a standalone pressure gauge or to monitor it with a scan tool.
