noise from clutch or tranny
I have 98 z28 6 speed with 76000 miles, When it is nice out during the winter I take it out for a ride. One weekened I put 100 miles on it parked it to go to the store came out tried to put it in reverse nothing could only go foward. I messed with it in the parking finally it worked, no later than 5 minutes down the road I get to a stop light and heard grinding noises I pulled it over and could smell clutch andthe grinding came on and off. When I got home jacked it up I could see fluid.Week later I started it up put it in 1st and reverse no problems. Clutch peddal is fine I have fluid in the res.

RE: noise from clutch or tranny
was there any whining while it was in gear? i just had the transmission replaced in my 3.8 after driving it for half a year thinking the throwout bearing was going bad, thanks to my mechanics. anyway, i would have trouble getting it in gear, and the first 5 months i would only hear whining while driving. when it was on its last breath it would grind while in gear. is yours grinding while the clutch is pressed or the car is in neutral? or is it also grinding while in gear?
something could also be going on with your slave cylinder since you mentioned the fluid and all, but i don't think that would account for the noises you're hearing.
