Default No ABS No Brake Pressure

Question for you all, what does the ABS module do that a directly fed line wont do?
I only really learn by doing, and I wanted to see how things play out when I remove the ABS module completely and feed a direct line. I expected there to be brake pressure still, just without the obvious ability to keep from locking up. I didnt bother tapping the rear brake line into the system so I could avoid a splitter since this was just a test anyhow. I directly fed the 2 brake lines from the master cylinder to the 2 front brake lines. The master cylinder was basically new when I got it and worked before hand, there are no leaks, and i blead the passenger side then the drivers side until a steady stream of fluid came out a couple times. Refilled the cylinder and capped it. Still absolutely no pressure what so ever. Not even a little. So Im trying to figure out, does the ABS system do more than what you might expect. Are there internal valves, not like a proportioning valve really, but one that increases the pressure within the line?

I think I have figured it out. It seems like a direct feed doesnt hold any brake pressure when you let go of the brake. I came across something called a residual valve that is supposed to take care of the problem. Wilwood has a 2psi valve for disc brakes.

Yea, I had someone pumping the brakes while i checked the lines all the way down to the calipers. No leaks anywhere, you can see there is pressure working all the way down to the caliper, you can feel it in the hose and see the whole hose move in the wheel well. I bled out the passenger side first, and ended with the drivers side. My only guess is that the system isnt making enough pressure by itself.
I was trying to find if someone had done that on here, but the search isnt too accurate and i couldnt seem to find a post about it already.
