You realize that the "fastest" 02 SS could have just left the factory with an abnormally powerful motor right? Not all LS1's produce exactly "350" HP, they have a certain tolerance and range of HP that they produce that is around 350, it could just be that SS has one that was more powerful, that'd be my bet because in normal applications it's been proven that they run the same track times and run similarly on the dyno.

if i were you ise take the ss.........just so i could be like ..."yea i have an ss camaro"..just sounds so sweet....but the choice is all yours and an ls1 is an ls1 so your lucky....i wish i could afford any ls1......even a piston for an ls1...man beein poor sucks

i almost came out with a ls1 trans am...poo...but i still love my lt1, i dont really care for the diff between the ss nd z28...same damn car, its just like saying a camaro is better than a firebird...its the same dame thing..

 

the SS IS slightly better than the Z28. If you match em up year for year id put money on the SS.
