Newbie buying advice for 93-97 Convertible
My old mopar needs some modern company. Here is what I am looking for.
Camaro; 350 manual, convertible, light color, stock (no flashy upgrades). I want a summer cruiser that I will drive under 6000 mile/year. What are the best years? What years to stay away from? Opinions and facts please.
I am looking for a car with under 80,000 miles. The prices are all over the place. Edmunds prices them 1/2 as much as what autotrader prices them. What's another source for used Camaros?
Any other advice appreciated.

I would look towards the 96 and 97's. Atleast the the computer system is standardized. The 95 have a OBD1.5 with some changes mid year. Where are you at? You can watch ebay and craigs list maybe something will come up but both can be dumping grounds.
Are those all in WNY? I'd wonder about WNY cars, as you know how the rust can be. The other question is how well it's been taken care of while in storage if the shell's not rusted. Of course, the season for convertibles up here is awful short...
i bought my 95 in roc ny with 98000 for 4500 (KBB 5800)including stock and aftermarket rims and tires and some other little sht never seen a winter absolutely no rust ive driven it 9000 miles and all i have done is the clutch i feel i got a good price
When'd you get that car? I was looking at a tan/green '95 'vert w/ 5-speed some four years ago...
i got it last oct it was bob johnsons car (bob johnson chevorlet) but it sat for like 3 years so its possible that its the same car
I got my 96 z28 back a few years ago for 7k. She had 90k miles on her. Interior was in very good condition. All leather and power. No tears on leather or carpet. Convertible top was showing age. It was white top but I changed it out for a new black one. The paint and body were in good condition considering the year. It had a scrape on the right rear fender, but I had that taken care of. The engine and transmission so far have not giving me any problems other than replacing the radiator. But all in all, 7k was the best deal in town after months of researching the market. I snagged this one as soon as the guy put it on the market. =) I live in the Dallas Texas area. Cars in this condition around here can easily go for 9-10k.
