Default New Camaro, strange wiring.

So i bought a 97 Camaro and i bring it home yesterday, she drives fine, needs a new ac compressor clutch and all new shocks. But the strangest thing is when im idling and i hit the break peddle, the RPM needle Bounces to a bout 1500 and 2 dash lights flicker on and then immediately off. Its just like a quick thing and doesn't effect the car in any way that i know of. I just think that its the strangest thing and was wondering anybody experienced this. I wonder if its just some messed up wiring or something that could cause a major problem later on.

Do you have the GM manual? If not go over to the manuals sub folder and get it. Track down the Dash cluster ground. Then on your car make sure that 1 it is tight and 2 no one has decided to add other stuff to the ground. If they did relocate all the ground not factory to some other place. I have seen both problem cause issues with modern dashes. That does not mean you do not have a problem in the cluster itself, I would just check the ground first.

sometimes these things become a mystery ,like mine on occasion has done similar ,could be like said a wire or sencor ,I found that so far I can live with it couse it only happen a few times over 3000 miles ,if it becomes an issue then I will look further into it ,other wise the car runs fine,i have had check engine light come on with a 2001 mercury marquise ,an for the life of the car pretty much ,some call them dummy lights,it would not come on for 30.000 miles then would come on an shut off

Ironically the "Check gauges" light and the abs light, they dont fully light up they kinda dim in and then back out. I hooked up an obd tool to it to check if the gauges were accurate. They were not, The rpm is off by 200, the speedo is off by 4 mph, the temp gauge is off by like 70 degrees and the oil pressure is a little twitchy. it just kind hops around. no pattern to it.
