Default Needing a new set of keys

Can I purchase a new set of uncut camaro keys with the chip from ebay? Is there a certain kind that i need to get? As, I only have one set.

Also, I'm needing a couple of keyless entry fobs as well. Is there a certain style number that I need?

I have a 93 Z28.

Thanks!

I don't know about 93's, but I just got a new key cut from the dealership last week. It was only $27 (not expensive at all compared to the almost $80 for my Nissan key) and I had to have the special resistor in it. They had to use some little machine, stick my key in it, and it read what kind of resistor was in because just telling them what car I had, there were apparently other kind of resistors that were used for that year or something. For the key fob, the eBay ad should state what years it will work on. But if your car was never programmed for one, you will probably have to take it to the dealership to get programmed. That's what I had to do at least because my car didn't come with one and only the first part of programming the fob would work.

you need to find the ohm reading from your key,http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#pass_key
then you can get a key from ebay or whereever and have it cut at the local hardware. got mine for 9 bucks and shipping on ebabe.

I can ship you a set of keys pretty cheap. Ignition key is $16 and door key is $2. You can order through our website, or you can call me at 302-645-6221 x126.
Thanks

Thanks everyone!

Craby, that link is definately worth printing out and holding onto. Thanks!

Darling, I'll check with the dealership... That's just dirt cheap, to not check out. Thanks!

Thanks Parts! I'm also in need of a driver's side wiper arm. I checked your site and for $56... That's well worth it! I'll most likely be getting ahold of you on that and if my local dealership can't get me the keys that I need I'll get ahold of you on that too. I'll get my multimeter out and check the resistance, like the article says, that Craby generously posted for me.

So glad that I found this website! There's nothing like a cool camaro site, with tons of nice folks, willing to share knowledge!

Not sure about your state but here in TN, to get a key cut at a dealership, we have to provide them the current registration or show them the title to the car with the title in your name. They make a copy of drivers license as well as the registration.

The keys are really cheap all over the internet. Just make sure that you get the resistance reading correct and order away. I got my keys online and had them cut at my local hardware store. I think I spent $20 total (keys, shipping, cutting) for two complete sets.

The keyless entry fobs are all over the internet also. I got mine from http://originalkeyless.com and they worked flawlessly when they finally arrived. A little pricey, but I really couldn't find anything cheaper. They have them for the '93 Camaro also.

Before you order the keyless entry fob, check your option sheet in the glovebox for the keyless entry option code. For my '94 Z28 it is "AU0" and for '93 it is probably the same code. If you don't have the keyless entry code, then your car doesn't have the receiver and your fobs won't work.

Remember the wiper arms are different from 93-97 and 98-02. Also note that you can put the newer arms on the older car but they will sit funny. The wiper transmission parts are different as well. Side by side they look almost identical but the angle of the pivot is different and allows the newer arms to sit properly on the glass. Wiper motors are interchangable even tho the newer ones have a different part number.
