I'm replacing a bunch of stuff on my 95 z28 project car. I have a water pump I'm going to put on and figure I may as well do the optispark while I'm there. At Autozone, the distributor and cap/rotor is over $400. You can find them elsewhere for $300. On Ebay, there are a bunch that claim to be the distributor and cap/rotor and they avg $100. Is this too good to be true? has anyone any experience or know anyone that tried one? Just go to ebay and do a search on optispark and you'll find a bunch.

If you don't feel comfortable posting public feel free to leave me a PM.

I appreciate any help. i'm heading out of country again and want to order it so it's here when I return. i have every other part i need and am popping the hood next and working under there. Black z06 rims are on. New rotors and pads all around are done. diff fluid change, tranny fluid and filter change done, and now, the engine bay where chevy orange spray paint will find its way once i get things purring. After that, the interior gets cleaned as it's in good shape and then, she'll be road worthy.

thanks again as i like the idea of saving $$$

The Optispark is a pretty complex peice of equipment. And as usual you get what you pay for.

There was someone on here who bought one from ebay, and ended up sending it back since it didn't work. He went through two or three, can't remember. I wouldn't go cheap with that.

I thank you for the replies. If the unit was readily accessible and easy to replace, then heck yeh, try el cheapo. But, we know how much of a b#$% it is to take off so you only want to do it once.

You're thinking of importmd. As the others have said, you get what you pay for, and with something that's pretty hard to get too, you should do it right the first time.
