ebay intake
Ok. So i bought an eBay intake for my 97 3800 v6 camaro, and it works suprisingly well. anywho it was a really tight fit at first but after fighting with it and losing the oxygen sensor because it fell into the intake while i was trying to put it on, i got it on. It really does make a diffrance when accelerating, because you can hear a sucking noise, and when you shift it makes a hissing noise, my engine also sounds deeper, and, i have slightly better pickup. also this was a real bargin because it only cost~$50. if you are considering one personally i say go for it, because aside from your engine, what do you have to lose?
You can lose $50 for an intake that's not an actual Cold Air setup. Not to make you feel bad about your purchase, and I'm sure it flows a bit better than the stock setup, but I'll put in my $0.02
The "Chrome Intakes" from ebay are only a marginal purchase. When purchasing a new intake you want to make sure it's an actual cold-air setup that brings in cold air from outside the engine bay. The other thing you want to watch out for is the cross sectional area of the tubing, even if it looks like it's a weird shape, as long as there are no sharp corners something can be an odd shape and flow better than the smoothest tube because it has more area. Fluid dynamics stuff...anyway, that's just my thoughts, but you got a better sound and you sound like you're pleased, so if it works for you congrats!

just add one more pipe and your good. I have the same intake for my z28 and I make it a short ram in the winter becuase of rain and water and I put the third piece on in the spring through summer to make it a cold air
I have to agree with 95slvr on this one. I actually took his advice after doing lots of research.
I was looking at the same intake but then I took into consideration the diameter of the tube and the value of "cold air".
I ordered my K&N from ebay as well. There are plenty of buy it now pricing for $160 brand new. I got lucky and found someone who had a brand new one for sale (private party) as an auction. I won the auction at $102!
I just installed the K&N CAI last night. It was a pain in the **** because you have to remove the deflector and panel underneath the car to install the filter (hence Cold Air). It took my 2 hours by myself. Should take half the time with a partner (one person needs to push from the top while you push the intake onto the tube from the bottom). I had to use some weights from my bench set to simulate another persons help!
