ok i have 1999 camaro ss

i am waiting for an owners manual and recently changed the oil.

i read online to put the key to the ON potition, which i am assuming is right before it starts the starter, and hold the mileage reset button for like 10 seconds before 5 seconds...well I have tried this and have not noticed any kind of flashing indicating it has been reset.

can someone please help me get this reset?

Turn the ignition key to RUN with the engine turned off.
Push the TRIP/OIL RESET button for 12 seconds.The OIL CHANGE light will start to flash to confirm that the system is reset. The reset is complete when the OIL CHANGE light goes out.
