Hopfully the grease is right where you left it. If its gotten into the clutchs the tranny will never be right until it is rebuilt. As you can imagine grease on a steel friction plate does not work well.

ok so i got it apart again and removed the greese. put it back togeather and the front pump seal started leaking so i took the whole tranny out. !!@@#$$%%^ replaced the seals in it as well as the rear main just to be safe. i put it all back together and no leaks. i jumped up and clicked my heels. i let it finish warming up backed it up just to double check for leaks where it was setting. all looked good so i put it in drive reached back for my seat belt and it died. now it wont start. i checked all fuses and they are ok. but i have no spark coming from the coil wire. so now i got to figure out what went wrong with it now.

thanks craby. thats good info. i just decided to swap the opti, coil, icm, and all that good stuff with the ones off my other motor because i know they were all just replaced with in the last year. so maybe that will fix the problem. i did check the icm plug and it had 12 volts at a & d and i got 1.45 volts ac at c and b had a good ground. so i think it might have just been the icm but not too sure. will post an update when its all back together again.

ok well it has been a couple weeks. i had my car towed to a shop and after it sat for 2 weeks and they still had not touched it i told them to kick rocks and towed it home. now that its back i took it back apart and put a different opti unit on it and another coil and icm. still no spark. them my father in law was looking at it with me and he asks "what this for" talking about the tach fuse. (the little black box thats taped to the harness by the icm). so just for ****s and giggles i swapped it with one in another harness i have. and now i got spark cuz it will back fire but it still wont start. i tripple checked my plug wires and they are right. so its getting closer but i am still not sure what the problem is.

thats the tach filter. try unhooking it, all it does is run the tach. is the tach working? if grounded it would effect the spark.

not sure what you mean. are you saying to unhook it and see if i got tach while is unhooked or are you just asking if i have tach in general? cuz yes i do have tach at this point.

well i think i got it. and it was hell to figure out. but maybe someone can add it to a no start or backfire write up they got. i noticed that the double spline thing on the back of the disty that drives it had slipped a tooth. so i put in another one i had that the spline is not removable and she fired up. now just to put it all back together and hope nothing else goes wrong. thanks for all the help everyone. although none of it fixed it, it did teach me a whole lot more about the ignition system which in the end helps more that just getting a quick fit answer.
