Is it possible to fit a BB in a F-body? Why yes it is. If you own your own shop and have unlimited funds any thing is possible. Will it be cheap? NO. Will it be faster then a aluminum 402 LS1? Hmmm probaly not (or just as fast).

A LS1 can be knocked out to well over 408ci and LSX blocks going up to 502+. What more do you want.

It is cheaper to buy a LS1 or LT1 car then convert a V6 over to one of them. Some SB carb swaps are not too bad since they do away with the ECU and wiring nightmare. But then again with LT1 cars selling from 3200-5000 bucks and LS1 cars selling for as little as 8000 in decent shap why not just save your money and get a car that is already set up.

If you are on here asking about it then you probaly do not have the knowledge, skill, experince, or tools take on this task.

And just about any LS engine can be built to go toe to toe with just about any BB its all in what you want from your engine and your budget.

 

A big block will fit, I have seen it done. That said, it looked like there was a LOT of cutting, chopping, welding etc. etc. If you found a tubular K-member great, it's going to take so much more work than that. I'm usually all about encouraging people to go out on a limb and try something, but with how vague your questions are I would say you need to do a bunch more research into what you need to do to get this done.

 

Well I got this 94 v6 camaro for free... Our family is big into drag racing but we dont have any newer bodied cars. 70 Nova w/BB, 69 camaro w/SB and a 70 Camaro w/ BB so when I got this car we all kinda looked at it and said.." this is nothing like the other cars" Thats why i asked what would all have to be done....not that im a total idiot its because I DONT KNOW. So thanks to everyone that gave answers to my questions. Sounds like I will be sticking to a 383 or something along those lines.

 

ok so u know that u will need more than a k member to do the deed even with a small block. u found one for free now find a z28 with a blown motor for parts.

 

383 is not to bad to put in. lt1 k member lt1 motor monts and homemade adapter plates. i made mine out of 1/8in steel plate. i will be working on mine sunday i will update and add pics.

 

A SBC has a lot of potential even more so if you are a trailer only car and can run higher octane race fuels for more timing and afford that larger cam and race only carb and manifold set up. Its a great way to build a fast 1/4 mile car on a budget. The transmission and rear end are going to add up quick. Find a cheap 12 bold and a TH350 and your ready to go.
