I have a chance to buy a 1996 camaro t top in really good condition. It is a v6 with auto tranny. I want to put a v8 in it , but not sure if it is a major opperation. It will be a project for me . I like that year and have allwasy wanted a fun car to ride in. But dont want to waste to much money.

Not worth it. It is a major undertaking. Its much easier to buy a V-8 with a blown head gasket and just fix it.

Step one in the transplant is to find a V-8 donner car. You going to need that many parts.

not trying to hijack your thread but what would need to be done to just make it a drag car? I have a 94 v6 that we want to make a full drag car...What needs to be done in the frontend? Or is there even more i dont know about??

i just finished this swap i have a 96 myself. if you put a lt1 or ls1 in you will need to buy the k member for that motor the. 3.4, 3.8, lt1, and ls1 all take different k members. you will need the computer and wiring for that motor as well. change the driveshaft and the rear. if you do the work yourself and can get the parts cheep its not to bad. motor $1000 to $1500 with computer and wiring. k member $100. driveshafts $100 at most. rear i have seen anywhere from $150-$300.

Well im not planning on putting a LS1 or LT1 in it at all. I planned on a bigger motor so I didnt know what else would be needed.

Well if you're looking for a motor that is "bigger" I can only assume that you mean an actual Big block. In which case you it's going to be almost a completely custom job. Have fun!

yes we are planning on a BBC. I found some tubular K members online for 500$ but is there anything else that I will need to look into?

i think u better get a tape measure and do some calculating. not sure but i dont think a big block will fit in there. small block is a tight fit. get a small block and do a 383 stroke on it.

What type of BB? Remember there is no room for a distributor with a small block. I would guess a BB distributor would be sitting right about where your defroster vents are. That going to be a lot of cutting.
