Just make sure they do a complete rebuild not just "Find whas wrong and fix that" If they do a rebuild they should give you a warranty. I will agree with Jr Mechnic, Ammaco does not draw the best mechanics. Your best mechanic in your area is some little self owned shop somewhere. But there are also small self owned shops suck. The good thing about Ammaco is the warranty. If they screw up bad enough you can take it to another Ammaco.

 

i had them rebuild a tranny for me and it worked fine for 200 miles then it started slipping and it went back to them bu like gorn said they warranty there crap so they fixed it .. im not sure if it still works cause i sold the car but fingers crossed good luck bro !! hope they get ya back on the road !!

Just so you know I used to rebuild transmissions. Sometimes you can get away with fixing a problem and not rebuilding the whole trans. But in those cases you need to be sure the failure did not put and metal shavings into the the other parts of the transmission, At no time did the transmission over heat. The only time I did repairs not rebuilds was when the car was still under GM's warranty. Those parts seem expensive but if you do not put the clutchs in now you could be looking at another $1800 repair in just 3 months.
Since you have no idea what caused this failure or how the car was treated for the last 8 years you should think hard about the rebuild. The other thing the rebuild does is it takes away ammaco's excuses. If they do a rebuild anything goes wrong it on them. If they do a repair and something goes wrong there will be no way of proving they screwed up or something else failed.

Edit: From your posts I can assume you got the car cheap. You most likely got the car cheap because of the transmission issue. If you fix the trans right its a $8,000-$9,000 car. You just got the car, fix it right. It could last you a long time, Dont fix it right and it could be a pain right up till you sell it to some other sucker.
