me thinks he doesnt have the cash, thus why he's gonna race to get 10g's to deck out his car, but he doesnt want to race and lose 10g's he doesnt have, he wants to make sure he'll win... if this is even real.

This tread is a little crazy. First off This isnt pinks all out and most people dont race near stock cars for 10K. If you have 10 grand just to **** away you would have alot more in your car in the first place. Stock for Stock you would kill him. even if he had slicks that would not help all that much on a near stock 289 and a few bold ons. Headers, exhaust, small cam, carb, Intake manifold. You should still take him. But he was probaly pulling your leg when you talk to him or he has alot of *** in the mustang. There's not a lot of 66s left that are in good shape. The fact he owns one, If it is well kept probaly means its well done and he probaly is a hard mustang guy. Also i cant think of any mustang guy with a 289 that would just spend the money for a cam and leave it. Its probaly been rebuilt at some point in its life. OK I AM DONE RANTING

10 large? Unless you've got it to lose, don't go for it. That starts getting sticky when money gets involved.
Maybe politely decline the $$$, but offer to race for bragging rights? Bragging rights are cheaper

Hi, everyone I really need help on making this decision, because its a lot of money. Yesterday my dads boss offered me a race at the drag strip for $10,000. He has a 1966 Mustang 289 4 barrel with an upgraded cam everything else is stock on the car as of what he said. He claims that it is really fast. Now I have a 1995 Camaro Z28 (Dual Cat)mostly stock just have flowmasters, K&N air filter, and some little air coil add on to the throttle body. Im hoping on getting a cold air intake on my car as well. But can anyone give me an opinion if that Mustang is really that quick in the 1/4 mile vs. my camaro.
Thanks, Dan
Thanks, Dan
