Hi, everyone I really need help on making this decision, because its a lot of money. Yesterday my dads boss offered me a race at the drag strip for $10,000. He has a 1966 Mustang 289 4 barrel with an upgraded cam everything else is stock on the car as of what he said. He claims that it is really fast. Now I have a 1995 Camaro Z28 (Dual Cat)mostly stock just have flowmasters, K&N air filter, and some little air coil add on to the throttle body. Im hoping on getting a cold air intake on my car as well. But can anyone give me an opinion if that Mustang is really that quick in the 1/4 mile vs. my camaro.

dude if your raceing for 10g's id invest in alota mod becouse thats alota money and if youve got that much to just bet with you gota have some money to mod your car.

 

Yea, I second that. Get headers, do a cat delete, get a CAI, some good drag radials, steeper gears, pulley's, alluminum driveshaft, and a nice tune. Hell, since you're dealing with $10k get a 100 NO2 shot. That should win the race for you. And you will end up with a faster car and $10k. I'd really make sure that he can and is going to pay that money before doing all this though.

 

If all he has done is a cam, and everything else isstock,then I don't see why you wouldn't win... I'm no car old car buff, but after reading this http://www.66mustang.net/convertible/stats.htmI see no reason you shouldn't win.

 

This is one of those post i can see it now. first off a 66 289 is going to get killed by a LT1 first off even with a cam. And i have some problems thinking that your dads boss just came out of no where and bet you 10K. Also as said above why wouldnt put that into your car. But stranger things have happend.

hey do you guys by any chance know what the stock rwhp is for that 289 1966 mustang? because im pretty sure my cars pushing 300rwhp and 335 pounds of torque im at sea level btw

 

He must have something else in that Mustang to come out and offer 10k to race you, i'd be weary, its prolly not what he says it is.

im betting he has something else done to the car to. but even slicks can decrease a stock 1/4 mile time by about a second right?(for upper HP cars)

dunno, my dad use to have a auto chevelle with a 396, he claims had about 700WHP, that could run a high 9, low 10, and lift front wheels off ground up to 4feet.. it was also tubbed out with major slicks too, from what i understand.

 

Is it just me or does this seem rediculous? If your worried about him hiding something walk around his car, have him let you check it out. Is he betting you 10gs or is he giving you 10gs for the race? Kuz sounds like he offered you 10,000 just to race... Anyway..how much does a 66 weigh compared to a 95 Z?If you have that kind of cash just laying around take the race... hell youve got my vote for a win.... Then again its not my money lol
