motor swap
alright i know everybody say's not to do it but i got a free 95 3.4lt camaro with a blown valve in the motor the guy i got it from. got it have way apart and left it for a year now theres water in the oil and i believe the engine is seized. i have a free 85 chevelle motor 5lt and was wondering if this would fit or should i get a ls1 from my friend i don't believe any v8 will fit the stock auto tranny but i'm not sure whattranny this carhas in it.if anyone can help it would be much appreciated
if you definitely want to keep the car and not put a lot into it i would go to a junk yard and pull a 3.8 out of a wrecked camaro/firebird and instead just drop that in, if your looking for an easy fix.because that way you can just bolt up the tranny thats currently in it and i think the engine cradle is the same but im not positive on that. anything will fit with the right amount of money and time.if you know you want a v8 then i would just sell the car and buy a z28. but if your looking for a project then i would just try to pick up a wrecked 4th gen. z28 and just salvage everypart of it and put it onto the 95 3.4 includingthe motor, tranny, rear-end, and the k member along with all the other front end suspension and motor mounts. that stock auto tranny i believe is the 4l60e and i don't even know if that can handle a v8 even if it's built right. i've thought about putting an lt1 into my 96 3.8 but im not going to until i find a z28 donor car to do it with.
