Might be selling my Camaro.
Ya want my input then keep reading...

You have done most of the main things that these cars need already and a couple of custom mods that you like. The new car may have issues that are going to need to be addressed as well. None of the repairs you did are much beyond normal maintainance and they help add to the reliability of your car. If you want to get a 3.8L or Z-28 car then save up the $$$ first, buy the new car then sell the old one, that way you have something to drive as soon as the old Camaro sells. Also if the new car needs work then you will have wheels while you save the $$ to fix the new one. IMO and FWIW I would keep the old untill you know you can trust the new. Me personally I am keeping my Sarah even after I find and buy my SS. Sarah is a 99 3.8L well optioned and I want an 01-02 SS 6 speed, I plan on driving Sarah as a daily driver and the SS is going to be my "Toy" that is driven on nice days and sees the track every now and then. But that is me, this is my take on the selling stuff. Oh and I think you have a pretty nice car, I would be keeping her.

Massey: Thanks! mI never looked at it that way. Makes sense tho. The main reason I'm wanting to sell it is because when the timing cover gasket blew, it ran hot and blew out head gasket. There is Bar's leak in the antifreeze now keeping it running like normal. That's my main concern. Because I definitely do not have the money to have that fixed. And like I said, the car has 178xxx. So I'm just wondering how much money I'm going to have to put into it to keep it running right.

I take it you do not plan on telling anyone the gasket is blown? What goes around comes around. Fix your car either so you can sell it or drive it. If you do not want to fix it make sure the new owner knows what he is in for.
Your car with a blown head gasket value $800-$1000

Hi, I'm driving around in a car which is on borrowed time. I want to dump my car on some poor sucker, not disclose everything and demand that they pay me more than market value so I can buy a car with no problems.
Well, as with anything you buy, the rule "caveat emptor" does come into play.
But, how would you feel if a seller didn't disclose issues to you?
As for the car, if it's running good it's a $2,000 vehicle at best. Your repairs that you've done don't add any market value and, I use the term market value. KBB is not market value. If you must use an on-line site then try Edmunds, you won't like what you see because they are closer to reality.
In case you aren't familiar with the term "market value", it's what a ready/willing/able buyer is WILLING to pay to a ready/willing/able seller for a product. Some of the things that affect market value are economy, which right now stinks, supply of the product- there are plenty of 4th gens or equivalent for sale, demand for the product- not a lot of demand for 3.4L Camaros
heck, even you want a 3.8 or 5.7L
so, you are in the midst of a poor economy, own a vehicle that has low demand and high supply. To add to that, you can either disclose the information about the head gasket or choose to ignore to disclose it. The choice is yours.
I paid $800 for my 94 automatic a couple of years ago; it seems to have every option the V6 could get including t-tops. Condition-wise it had 130k miles on the clock and a blown head gasket. The seller had parked it for almost 2 years that way and water in 2 cylinders made boring a necessity during the rebuild.
I currently have $4000 in it, not including the $600 used engine screw job and the 3 new tires that it should have.
The only way I'll get my money out of the car is to drive it. Figure that you're doing pretty well if you can drive a well-worn car for $1000 a year. I don't foresee any problem getting 4 more years out of my 94.

I feel like an a** hole now. I guess I wouldn't want anyone to sell me a car with a blown gasket that was patched either. Looks like I'm going to keep this car until I save up the money for a 3800 5-speed. And I know this sounds bad but I get sick of reaching to the passenger side of the car to roll down the window or unlock the door. My car has no options... Which is a real bummer. But hey, after all, it IS a Camaro lol.
When I bought my car it had snow tires on it. It was originally from Minnesota or Michigan I think is what they said.

There are days when I would have loved to have manual windows... Like before Sarah was wrecked and the driver's window would not go up without assistance. The new door had a good motor so I got lucky. My friend's 95 started life with power windows but both his motors were shot and the doors were garbage too. The replacment doors had manual windows and now he has no issue with his windows going up or down. Now my pass side motor is getting slow... you all know where that goes.

that's excellent to hear; kudos to you
heck, drive it till it breaks and save your money.
If you have room to keep it, once it breaks, take out the engine and slowly look for a donor powertrain and take your time and build a toy
Well I just found a 1997 3800 5-speed Firebird for sale. A friend of mine has it. I've known him and his car for 4 years now. That car is actually the reason I bought my Camaro. I originally I wanted a Firebird but couldn't find one. Now I'd choose a Camaro over a Firebird any day lol. So He's replaced the engine, transmission, and clutch 20xxx miles ago. It also has all new exhaust. He wants $3500 for it without the killer stereo system that's in it or $4000 with the stereo system. I'm going to go look at it tomorrow and see if it's worth it. If so I guess it'll be time to take out a small loan and see if I can't build up some credit history while I'm at it. I'll take pics of it tomorrow and post them to see what everyone thinks. Thanks guys!
