Might be selling my Camaro.
Hey everyone. I might be selling my Camaro soon in order to upgrade to a 3800 or a z28. So I figured I would ask around here to see about what it's worth. It runs good and all but I'm ready to part with my first car for something a little (or alot) beefier. That and I'm sick of dumping money into it. Stuff just seems to keep going wrong on it.
So the story is I bought it a year ago with 175xxx for $1250. I've put about $1400 into it. I'm sick of putting money into repairs and you'll understand why when you see the repair list below. Everything listed below is stuff that I have put in the car. I bought it stock as a rock.
Condition:
1994 Camaro 3.4 with 5-speed trans.
178xxx miles
Interior in great condition except dash pad cracked today
and the drivers seat is ripped.
Exterior is decent (couple of small dings, peeling clear coat here and there. Normal wear and tear for a 1994.
Extras and repairs/maintenance:
Blacked out tail lights, side markers, and turn signals.
Hood bra cover
Shift ****
Kenwood head unit (new)
RE-Audio speakers with amp(will shake the car next to mine without subs)
Z28 dual exhaust with magnaflow catalytic converter
Oil changed recently
Coolant flushed recently
New: timing cover gasket, water pump, timing chain and sprockets, thermostat, AC compressor, blower motor, headliner, tires, spark plugs, plug wires, serpentine belt, radiator fan motor, and temp sensor.
I think that's everything. I'll update this post if I remember anything else. Here are some pics. Let me know what you all think it's worth. And in advance, THANK YOU for any input!!!
Oh and I realize my location makes a difference in what I can sell it for. So for that I live 10 minutes from Branson, Missouri and 35 minutes from Springfield, Missouri

The interior pics are a little dark because I literally just took them...

Condition Value
Excellent $2,550
Good $2,200
Fair $1,625
Maintaining your car (repairing it as needed) does not add value to a car. It is assumed the car has needed repairs. The only thing you can really do tell people you repair everything right away. Dealership try to hide the fact cars have been repaired. They want customers to think this is a car that never needs repaired. Check the Kelly Blue book in your area/ Prices can vary from state to state. Listing your car recently had a bunch of repairs and now you are selling it is a mistake. People will assume you are tied of putting money into and you have had it with the car.
With a dash crack and pealing clear coat it would be hard to rate it excellent but the Stereo and duels should help for a few hundred. My guess would be $2400-$2500 ish for my area.

That's about what I expected. I see them go on craigslist in my area for $2000-$3500 depending on condition. This is with the same mileage as mine. When I bought the car for $1250 I turned around and got offered $2500 for it. I should have taken that deal. But at the time, I couldn't find anything in as good of condition as mine for that price. So I stuck with it.
For giggles, I looked at a '95 3.4 here a few weeks ago, and they were asking $3250 for it. And, that was extremely high for it's condition. I'm fairly close to you, and see the 3.4s going for anywhere between $1800 to $2200. None are ever in really good shape, though. I would say the $2200 would be about right for our location in your condition. You might want to start with $2500 just to have a negotiation buffer.
Hey man, I feel your pain -- it was a similar feeling with my '95 3.4L with 135k+ on it...
Go for it, but do yourself a favor and get an extended warranty on your next Camaro -- you will thank me later. Mine have always more than paid for themselves on my Camaros!
That's a lot of miles -- be happy if you get $1800 for it.

Well I can't even sell it right now. I have to have it to drive to West Plains next week to start college... IF I sell it I wont take less than $2500 unless I have some cash built up for my next car. I say that because I got offered that much for it when it didn't even run by 3 or 4 people. I'm not going to get $1800 out of it then not be able to find another car. That would suck. So unless I can get some decent bucks out of it I'm going to save about $2000 then sell it and hopefully get a 3800 5-speed with 125xxx miles or less. Exactly how close are you, RedKnight?
