Default Manual: Issues shifting into reverse?

Should've been the first question I ever asked but oh well here it is.

Does anyone else have issues shifting into reverse with their manual transmission?
I read online somewhere when I first got the car this is common but I want to know if you guys have the same issue or is it something that can be fixed?
Sometimes she shifts supersmooth no issues and sometimes even at complete stand still clutch pedal to the floor I'll shift into reverse and get a thump/bang. People will look at the car and it's embarrassing like if I'm shifting wrong when I know I'm not.

I know exactly what you are experiencing; it happens to me often. I find that shifting up into 5th and the pulling it straight down into reverse prevents any "grinding/thumping" sound.

I usually shift into 1st first before I even try reverse. Just became a habit to me its common on most 5 speeds

If you are sitting still and start the car with clutch pushed all the way in and you grind going into reverse it is a sign that you clutch is not completly disengaging. This can be caused by a failing pressure plate or a something in the release system failing.

I typically go into 6th, give it a rev to 2 and then try reverse. Works every time. It typically pops out of gear if I don't and starts grinding. Try using 5th.

Thanks guys, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one although wish we didn't have this problem at all. I'll try the tricks you've mentioned.
I've never popped out of reverse and I don't think there is anything wrong with the clutch b/c it doesn't happen all the time I can't even say it's majority of the time, but I will be looking into new clutch possibly Stage 2 in the near future.
