Read closer: 285 RWHP, assuming 15% drivetrain loss that calculates to 327 crank HP. On the upper end with 356 crank HP.

That said, do you believe that every single LS1 that leaves the factory is going to be exactly 305 crank HP? As Spec said, most of the difference is between the dynos, the other part of the difference is from variations in the motors. I would be willing to be there's a 5-10 HP difference from the reported numbers for any given motor.

not only that... but i bet NONE of them have 305 crank hp

I would be willing to say that if we shoved a potato in the intake we could get a 305 hp LS1...although I don't think they came with the potato mod from the factory [>:] So ya, you're probably right...

Its not uncommon to have a little difference in factory vehicles. A 25 horse power swing on a 300 HP car is not that bad giving that cars like the RX8 very as much as 35 horses on a 200 horse power car. If all engines where built and made the same exact horse power you would not have factory freaks.

Yeah. I was talkin to a guy at work who is in a college program that splits his time between school and the shop. His instructor built a hell of a Foxbody without any aftermarket parts. He just reworked the engine a little here and there.

You do know a fresh 5.0 will put down around 200 horses at the ground give or take about 10 horses. Using factory parts there is only so far you can take it. You can swap to a cobra intake, TB, heads, and cam but your not picking up about 25 horses. Keep in mind a stock 5.0 foxbody is a high 14 low, 15 second car.

No, he kept it 100% stock using only OE replacement parts. I forget what category he races in but the kid was telling me that all he did was regrid a few things by a very small decimal and over all those little things the power increased considerably.. I see him monday and ill ask him more about it so i can give you a better answer.
