Default Low oil pressure

I have a 97Z28 and i have a low oil pressure problem.

I had changed my oil pan and pump because i had dented my oil pan (while changing the motor mounts and not being careful. I had to change the pan because immediatly after i dented it, it ran with lower oil pressure). Now when i start the car cold, it works as advertised (approx 10 psi/1000 RPM). When the car gets to temp, the oil pressure drops to just about zero and the check gauges light comes on. These symptoms did not occur before i changed the pan/pump. It is holding its oil of course. I also changed the oil pressure sensor to make sure that wasnt it. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Check the oil pick up setting on the pump, it should be about 1/8" above the bottom of the pan. Too low and the oil can't get in, too highand may not picking up oil. As the engine runs, oil accumulates in the heads and other various places causing the level in the pan to drop. Did you replace the pump drive when you replaced the pump? It is a good idea to change it out at that time.

How many miles are on this motor? Oil pressure is produced from good main bearings. If the pump is good and pickup is clean..........[sm=headbang.gif]
