Looking to improve mpg. tips?
have you found a place to have it scanned?
no dont need to leave the car running. want to check pressure while its running. you pressure up the system and leave it hooked up for a while and if the pressure drops quickly then you have something goin on. a low pressure will not give you poor milage though. high pressure will. pressure should be in the area of 38 to 42 have seen it lower at idle. heres some direction on testing fuel pressure.

test your intake air temp sensor and coolant temp sensor. use ohm meter.

I have not found a place to scan it. Called the O Riley's by me and they said they no longer carry the proper equipment. Im not sure what mechanics in this rea would have the scanner either. Theres no light on but I am not sure if something could be off and not set the cel. I did read a faulty o2 censor can cause your fuel economy to decrease by as much as 40%
Most code scanners cannot read the computer's memory to see what codes were set in the past, only the ones that are tripping the CEL now.
Yes o2 sensors will have a HUGE effect on your mileage, and they are not always called out on OBDI systems. The 3.4L does not have a MAF but it does use a MAP sensor that also regulates the fuel and timing for the engine. Make sure that it is hooked up to both the electrical and vacuum (pass side of the engine on the upper intake plenum, it is a little black box with 3 wires and 1 vacuum hose).
Clogged injectors can also cost you mileage and poor performance, use a quality fuel system cleaner like Lucas Fuel system cleaner to help unclogg the injectors.

Thanks Massey, Ill check the MAP sensor tomorrow morning if i can wake up a little earlier. and I am hoping the fuel injectors aren't too bad. We just had them out and cleaned them. I have a bottle of Marvel Mystery Oil I put in when I got gas yesterday. Im going to see how well that helps. I thought of seafoaming it but the bottle said 2 stroke, and 4 cylinder engines and I wasn't sure if that be good for it. Plus i Had the MMO from a while back and never used it.
ok I ran outside to see the MAP sensor really fast so i know what Im looking for tomorrow. I see a little box in the pass corner closest to the windshield. Is that it? im not sure how to see if everything is hooked up its at a sort of downward angle
Sounds like you found it.
