One side on a stand and the other still on the tire, or both sides on jack stands, makes no difference in safety/weight support. And actually, if you have the car at an angle with only one jack stand, due to weight transfer, the side with the tire will be supporting more weight than the jack stand side will be.

good to know i was, infact, being safe....after the fact

After years of having a Big Craftsman jack, I went the other way. I bought a little Walmart jack that I use MUCH MUCH more often. When I had a garage the craftsman jack was awesome. It was easily accessible and easy to use. Now that I have a carport, that big jack is just too big and heavy for me to pull out of storage and use.

I can carry my $15 Walmart jack and 2 Craftsman Jackstands much easier than I can move my floor jack. Since I use the jackstands every time I lift the car, I am not worried about safety.

Oh hey, I just looked at the links you provided.

It looks like the jack you are talking about looks like this

Which doesn't look much different than a much cheaper walmart one

So I say GO FOR IT.

The one I was complaining about being too heavy is this Old Fashioned one
