I have a gen4 v6 94' camaro and I am having problems with my idle at start up. I get a pulsing sound from the engine it sounds like the engine is reving up and down slowly on its own but I see no difference on the tach. I was thinking of trying to replace the idle air control valve and see if that fixed it and if not move on to the MAF or the O2 sensor but my problem is I haven't worked on any of these 'newer' Chevy motors before and need some help finding the damn thing if anyone has some pictures to the location it would be much appreciated

You don't have a MAF. That's why you can't find it. The O2 sensors are under the car on the exhaust system.

Your engine does not have a MAF. If gets its air intake metering from a MAP sensor (pass side of upper intake) and a Air Temp sensor. (in the intake tube) If either of these are messed up you can get the symptoms you are describing, Especally the MAP. Your o2 sensors will not come into play until the engine reaches a certain temp. Also a stuck upen EGR can cause issues.

TO you have a CEL on right now?

No there is no CEL on but my next project light is on my ABS is out according to the almighty dashboard.

So check on a MAP sensor and Air temp sensor first and then if no change check o2.

Thank you I will pull those tomorrow and check them out. I will check back when I can get a new part in. (Takes awhile ordering parts from the states) Also how much of a pain is it to replace the manifolds on these v6?

Sorry sometimes I forget to be specific enough. I meant the exhaust manifold.

If they are not too rusty then no harder than any other part. But if you have the same issue I had you will break a stud or 2 and have to drill it out and have it re-tapped. I just paid a machine shop to do it for me and it cost $60 for 3 hole and one helicoil.
