On long story short my ex father in-laws managed to crush my IAC I found a replacement for a decent price but will a 3.8 IAC work on a LT1 I'm on a very strict budget and gonna try to save money if I can

My guess would be that since they have very different flow requirements their designs would be different.

Here is the cheapest one for LT1 I found for $12. I don't use it on a car, but on a PCM test setup. It has been working for 2 years now on an occasional basis. Definitely made in China. Link may not work. Search for "New Idle Air Control Valve IAC 17112478 AC27"

If you have the flat plug that bolts in, you can use one off the 3800 series engine. There's something different about them, I don't remember what I will try and find out, I do believe it was just the way the plug was oriented. but I do remember it will plug in and function the same at a less price.

Don't forget that the Buick Road master and Caprices came with Lt1s in anything with a tow package. It is very common in those wagons 92-96.
