I wanna Beat an STi :@
to answer slvr's question...its bone stock
As for how much I want to spend...I really just want to keep it a car I can rely on and not get 10 miles to the gallon/drag car and have things break because I don't have 3000 dollars worth of support mods.
With that said...if I had another 500 to spend on it...what would you buy?
Thank you allll for the responses!

ok soo I have a 94 Z28 A4. My roomate has a 04 STi. I HAVVVEEE to beat him and I need help on what I need. Right now I have a PCMforless computer, Catback and a shift kit. Now from what I have read I should get 230 to the wheels stock...plus the couple little things I have done.
Now he also has 230WHP stock (his car is bone stock) and when we race he wins by about 2 cars at 100. Heres my questions
A) If we have the same HP to the wheels and we race from a roll, why does he pull on me soooo hard?
B) What do I need to do (within reason) to beat/run with him?

has he put the car on a dyno and if so, what kind?
the STIs have a bigger turbo than the plain WRX and can be tuned to put out some serious power. Some slight mods and you can really make them into a beast.
Since you are talking about racing, then you are either talkiing about the 1/8 or 1/4 mile drag strip, where he will wlak you with his AWD. or, you are talking about some type of circuit track where the car handles better than yours.
You certainly aren't talking about street racing and endagering everyone else' lives so you 2 can compare the size of your.....
STi's put down anywhere between 235-245 AWHP, at any rate he still has the advantage on you, especially in weight. If he has no mods, and keeps it that way, you'll need at least a good set of long tube headers and some stickier tires to keep up in a 1/4. Toss a drag suspension on there or a bottle and you may have him beat (now you're at the point of who has the better driver mod). Around an actual track with turns...you're pretty much screwed...
