it was the temp sensor on the head!

Yeah, that's the one that had a melt down. But the other one might not be telling the fans to kick on. If the temp sensor is acting up, it can also make the engine run crappy (not idling, stalling or misfiring, poor gas mileage). But, you should be getting a check engine light if that was the case.

I do get a check engine light, but only after awhile of driving.... Also I need help with the correct sensor, Advanced seems to keep giving me the one for the top of the motor and my connector is one wire. I need help with this!

the engine coolant temp sensor is on the water pump part number 12146312, the temp gauge sensor is on the head. part number 23037332

The upper one is a sensor. The one in the head for the gauge is a sending unit. Don't ask for a "sensor" if you're after the one in the head

Tahnk you both, so as I was going over my motor some more I also noticed the one of the bolts for the ideler pully broke off in the bracket, while my car runs and the belt is semi tight I dont trust tis, so now I have to remove the entire bracket on the pass. side of the motor in order to remove the bolt remaining piece of the bold and tap it out for a new one, this is the same thing I have to do for EGR assembly off the header so I might aswell do them both at the same time since it will be easier to get to..... I'm feeling abit discouraged, it's one thing then another, then another, and with having limited funds it's becoming very hard to get these things done..... So my car is parked for the time being, i'm my heart is broke...lol.....

Also can anyone tell me the size of the starkey needed to remove the pass. Side
accessory bracket. (Alt, a/c)? i habe to tap out a broken bolt, and it will make removing the header easier aswell. im going to start tomorrow, but im trying to get all the info i can before i get to work, any and all advice is welcome.

20 year old car,,, yep bolts are gona be a pita, i broke off three exhaust bolts when i changed motors, still broke off in the shop. lol.

Well i have just decided to pull the motor and do an overhaul, replace everything and clean it all up, Paint it pretty and put it back in.... The pics and updated will be on my "Tweety Bird" thread in projects.....
