How to you v8 guys do it
so it rained here and im one my way home from class and im doing all i can to keep the back tires from spinning it its just a v6 i dont want all that rain and dirt spinning up on the car.(sorry i mean tire singular) i cant imagine driving a z
thats the thing they only got 3000miles on them they are cooper cobras or something like that apparently they are the only ones that fit my rims. and it doesnt happen much when im just going straight but anytime i turn i feel the back end want to slide out.
Does that happen no matter when it rains? Don't forget, the first rain after a dry spell makes the roads slicker than sh** from all the embedded rubber, oil, etc. that's on the pavement.
You need good tires rated for all weather service. The fancy summer tires look good but some cannot handle rain, and none of them are good in snow. Also, you need to be gentle on the gas pedal, once you break loose on the wet it hard to recover. Drove my z28 for 12 years in NY weather, including hurricanes and blizzards and never had any serious problems, but always had good tires and a shovel in the hatch, just in case. My 94 came originally from the factory with Good Year GSC's, they stuck like glue in dry roads, but were treacherous in the wet and useless in the snow. Eventually I replaced them with the tires the police had on their chase cars, Good Year RSA's, and the was much nicer to drive.
the v8's dont have the 2nd gear start button either do they. i thought about using it but decided against it because last time i used it it was stuck on until i disconnected the battery
My tires are hard to break loose even if I try to make em spin. And yes that's on wet roads. My tires spin if i run my rpm's up to 3000 and dump the clutch but with regular driving and fast acceleration they don't break, even around corners.
X2 on the sucky tires. Cooper Cobras are nothing special and don't provide any grip to begin with.... Just all show my friend.
Goodyears would definitely be a step up from the Coopers but not be in the same league as the Yokohama, Bridgestone or Michelins. And your Camaro is already biased weight wise front heavy and rear light so that is why when you sweep around a corner on wet pavement that you whip.... Take it easy and no tire is going to hold a car glued to the pavement forever. Its got to have a give at one point. Just remember that it applies to everything in life, buy cheap-get cheap.
