Corvettes are a never ending money pit, as far as the interior your right on the money. I have completely replaced everything to new. I just yesterday sent all my gauges to a guy in MN that will take them all and refurbish them to new. He does a great job and the cost for all the gauges to factory is $800. Total cost for the complete interior to look new is about $5K

Now onto that K&N system for the Camaro, I run the K&N filter which I like but the 57-3041 part from K&N is not for the '98 3.8L as it is only for the 99 and up.

I ordered the OBX headers yesterday so I am really glad to hear if there is issues there is fixes.

I take it you haven't had the opportunity to read many threads in this section yet. Take some time and read a good number of help threads, then report with us on just how "maintenance free" these 4th gen's are.
I have a couple, and have fixed up & restored a number of old Vettes. Any old car with miles on it can be a money pit, doesn't matter the make. There isn't anything special with the Vette that makes them a money pit, any more than the next car.

Nah too soon, good advice though man. Definitely don't see "maintenance free" in my future..

The 3800 t5 drivetrain is one of the most bullet proof drive lines out there and the A4 is pretty solid, But I would not call a 4th gen camaro bullet proof. There is more issue with the car itself then say a Mini Van of the same year.

Ya I don't see the "maintenance free" in my future either. All I see is new clutch, exhaust and the list keeps going.

I agree with gorn. These 3.8l engines are bullit proof. They Can take alot of abuse. The only problem is the intake gaskets and head gaskets suck. But that's the same with any engine.

As for vettes I've always wanted a 63 stingray. But to find one in good condition in my area is hard. Just finding one is hard. Then there's the new vettes.... They sexy.
