I wanted to say hi to all of you, in June I bought a 1998 which had 180K miles on it. Since June I have had the entire mechanical system of the car redone to new. This is what I have done so far:

* New engine installed 3.8L
* New Trans installed
* All bushings replaced
* Front end rebuilt with a really nice anti sway bar
* Brand new posi rear end
* New brake lines
* Brakes, calipers, rotors
* New water pump and radiator
* New water pump
* All new rubber and hoses
* Completely new air conditioning system
* New alternator
* New battery

At the end of the day it all sounds good and the car does have some nice power but I would like to get more. If you have any suggestions that would be great. Right now the car is in the body shop getting taken apart so that I can have it repainted. The old paint was ok, however I didn't like it shiny so I am changing that to Satin Black as in these pictures (not my cars):

Here is the back end of the car before:

Any ideas of things that I can do to buck up the HP and torch would be great. Also wanted to know who sells the best wheels (my tires are brand new) but I really want some sharp rims.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Rob

SLP CAI, Borla Adjustable Catback to start, then high-flow cat.

Look into new shocks too -- SLP Bilsteins, and what sways do you have now -- sizes?

I already have a cat back FloMaster system on it, but I think I am going to add headers this year was told I could pop a little more hp that way. There really isnt too much I havent done to the car. So far I have 12K invested as I skimped on nothing. Even the interior was mint and I am having custom leather seats made with my last name/emblem embroidered in the headrest area and in the center of the back.

I looked into turbo and may do that this year however my mechanic said that it would void the warranty. As far as the exhaust, your right on the money when you say it gets throaty at about 4K RPMS. It does sound really good at start up as well.

I had the Flowmasters system on mine and I loved the way it sounded at idle but over 3500 it got raspy and deceleration was horible. Magnaflow is a better all around sounding system. Headers will be the best upgrade since the 98's still had those crappy exhaut manifolds.

Please post picture of your car when it done. I was thinking about the same Paint on my 93Z with some silver strips.

You know what sucks is that the 3.8L has very little modification options. I love the motor as you can beat it to death (not that I would) and it will keep on going. The issue I have is that there is not a complete modified exhaust, K & N makes nothing other then a replacement filter (which I have), there are a number of aftermarket items but they all are for the V8 and not the 3800.

Thanks for that link to the post and I will look into some of them. I already plan to put shorty headers on the car but one of the suggestions was to change the pulley system to bypass the A/C which made me laugh as I had each component replaced so that my daughter and wife were comfortable on the days that they ride with me.

I will defiantly put pictures on here as I get the from the body shop but they have put it all on hold for about a month which is fine as it is there all winter.

Well it is not just 4th gen Camaro’s. I remember hearing the same thing from the 3rd gen community. Reality check is most people buy V6 because they could not afford a V8. In the past when aftermarket developed performance parts for the V6 other then basic bolton they do not sell. The v6 community talks a big game be when it comes to buying high end performance there are very few takers. It would definitely be a waste of money to develop something now since the cost of the V8’s is so low. There use to be more stuff out there but like anything each part must maintain a certain production level or it is not worth making. Manufactures are all focused on parts for the 5 gen now. You cans still get CAMs and headers so we are ahead of the 3.4 and 2.8 guys
