My 94 doesn't have 1st gear. It has a 3.4 auto. After scanning we found the pressure control solenoid had a fault that wouldn't clear. I changed it out and put in new fluid but 1st gear is still missing. The car actually starts off in 2nd gear but not very well.Any ideas????

 

Check the SGS button if your car has one.

 

I don't see one. Where is it normally located?

 

It would be on the dash above the radio. I don't believe your car would have one though.

 

No it doesn't have one. Would the car being in SDS mode fail the PCS? I already gothosed on the purchase of the car and don't really want to put a lot of money into it. Any ideas are appreciated!!!

 

The SGS is only on those cars that have the switch. I believe it's only on the 3.8 Automatics. All it does is starts the caroff in second gear.Only time I've used it was in the snow/ice. Even then, the wheels still slipped.
