Default Headlining replacement 97 Z28

Hi there, the headlining is sagging on both sides and needs replacing. Has anyone done this and can give me any guidance on how to approach the job.
I'm in the UK so its not possible to buy a local replacement. I'm thinking remove the lot and recover with locally purchased material.

Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

if its a plastic one you can do it. paper ones just keep falling apart. im guessing your cost to ship from the states is more than the cost of a new one.

well I think its a lot .of work when compared to buying the whole piece already set up to put in the car ,,.mine is getting bad to around t tops mostly the inserts they sell plastic ones with no fabric ,? is when did they if at all switch to a plastic shell ,couse.a new one would be plastic ,though they are not cheap .$ .350,00 average . so one can do it cheaper them self its the work ,you will have to take the old one out ,they sell the glue in a can ,you have to take all the old fabric off ,carefully ,what I would do hear is take it out wich wont be that hard just the time ,then have someone cover it for me, if its cheaper then buying a new one wich it probley is if one takes it to the right place ,I don't know why they don't just make them out of plastic only an forget all the sagging fabric ,like the new t top.inserts ?? just found hindsightseeing on ebay has one $234.00 free shipping in usa an world wide shipping so that's an idea an makes me think I wish I had the extra $234.00 a plastic shell too ,I will save to my wish list ,that's a great price

This one ships to the UK for $100, $309 total. Many other colors are available. Is the OP car a hardtop or T-top?

1993 2002 Chevy Camaro Pontiac Firebird Solid Roof ABS Molded Headliner | eBay

$316 total for the T-top version:

Replace it with a plastic one, if it's not already.

The factory one on my car was falling apart, we just replaced it with a fabric-wrapped plastic headliner. A couple of hitches (rear cabin light doesn't seat all the way on the rear clips). It's still in there good, though.

Thanks for all the info. Car is a regular hardtop.

I'll plan to get the old one out and see what state it is in and go from there.

Cheers

Old one removed and cleaned up. Gave it 2 coats of diluted PVA to give the spray glue a good base.

Tidy up the edges.

Came out pretty good

After looking at it for all this time I finally used this lockdown time to sort it. Pleased with the results
