You need to replace the reverse gear synchro.
Reverse is NOT synchronized. If you stop and then hold the clutch about 5 seconds before shifting it also prevents it from grinding.

The T56 (6 spd on V8s) tranny has a syncro'd reverse, but the T5 (v6 manual) does not. So if there is any movement in the gearbox while trying to shift into reverse, it will grind.

My bad, I had a V8 car in mind.

not worth spending the money, why spend 100s of dollars when all u gotta do is shift into 1st...id rather do that lol
