Prob a stupid question but, what is the top speed of stock camaros. I heard somewhere that all camaros were governed at 120. Is this true, I have a 02 SS stock. Thanks.

 

Well I've personally taken my 02 SS to 160mph I did hear somewhere that the Z28 is governed at 115 120 or somewhere around there.

 

It really depends on what tires the car was orinally ordered with. Cars with Z rated tires (like your SS) have no governor

 

well ive taken my 93 z to 140 so im sure its different for every year and what options you have on it

 

I know the early modled LT1's if governed stoped at 110.

 

The early modled LT1's were governed at 108, but only if you didn't order the car with Z rated tires from the factory(as was already stated in this thread). If the car was ordered with the Z rated tires, there is no governor. If you purchase the Hypertech PowerProgrammer, or get your PCM tuned, you can have the governor removed.

 

ive been to 160 with plenty left to go, just didnt want to break the speedo, that was with 3:43 gears.

 

i had a 96 lt1 i have gone 160 with more to go it was an interceptor but i think that meant it had a bigger alternator and maybe stiffer suspension with z rated tires but it might have been because it was a cop car that i could go that speed i am not sure that was with 3:73 gears

 

I have a 94 Z and it governed at 108 or110 and i took it off with a hypertech tunner, but my speedometer only shows 110.
