Rod Bearings = $22
Main Bearings = $12.95
Timing Cover Gasket = 17.95
Rear main set = $26.39
Grand total = 79.29

Take a weekend or two off of drinking and you'll more than cover this. Barrow your friends dads cousins brothers uncles torque wrench. If you start early on a saturday you'll be done by noon sunday if not earlier. You can do this while the engine stays in the car. It's a little more difficult than doing it with the engine out but it's doable... If I can do it on a Ford truck with that damn cross member in the way up front (have to lift the engine about 10" or so) in a weekend, you can do this. I'll try not to attemt my "talking you into keeping your car" thing anymore but no promises.

anyone else find it funny that in the same statement he says, i tried to take the best care of it i could and then proceeds to say he got arrested for doing a donut in it? anyway, spartan, take it somewhere else and have someone else check it. even if they same the same thing then at leastyou got the 2nd opinion. i guess if it were me i wouldn't trust the 1st answer until someone else confirms it

do you take good care of your car wham? Have you ever roasted your tires or done a donut or expeeded speeds of 60mph? Oh and i got arrested for doing a single donut.. not multiple...

Anyway, i dont drink and my weekends consist of work til 9pm on friday and work from 9am-6pm saturday then sat night/sunday i visit my mom who lives 45mins away.. like i said i dont have time or a place to do any of the work required. Ill look for another "reputable" shop and see what their diagnosis is... the thing i dont understand is that it runs fine other than the rough idle which i only experience at a stop and the only thing performance wise is unless im on the pedal it doesnt rev higher than 1500rpms even if im doing 60mph.

Man, kick him in the ***** when he's down, why don't ya? Anyway, he did say he did the best HE could!! Oops, sorry if that was another nut-knocker Spartan.
Doesn't your car have a stalling problem too? Sure would suck if it were to stall out while straddling the railroad tracks!

ur new. u werent here for all of his "i cant wait till i get my camaro" posts. in all honesty, it sounds like he wants the car, but bought into the bs from the dealer and thinks he CANT have the car. this is most likely incorrect. chances are he can keep his car if he just puts a little effort into it.

I agree it cant hurt to get a second opinion. Try a reputable local shop.
