Default fuel gauge not working

i know there is a thread about a fuel gauge already but that person is having a different problem.

ok so i bought a 1999 camaro a few days ago and when i was driving it yesterday i noticed the gas gauge is not working. there is fuel in it. the gauge is sitting lower then empty and is not moving. when i was pulling out of the driveway the gauge bounced around a few times but then it didnt do anything after that. could somone please tell me how i could fix this

was it working when you first bought it? try driving or parking on a steep hill and see if the gauge starts moving or levels off somewhere. might be best to fill the tank and try it. on a full tank it the needle is about 1/8 of an inch past the full mark. could be the float in the tank..

Gauge stuck on empty causes:
1) Wire from sender to gauge shorted to ground.
2) Fuel gauge sender in fuel tank bad
3) Float stuck to bottom
4) Defective gauge
