Default GAS GAUGE NOT WORKING

When i fill upa full tankthe needle goes over the FULL marker, as the tank empties the farthest the needle decreases is a little under the 3/4 FULL marker and no further.

I think its either the fuel pump sensor that is being obstructed somehow or the dashboard needle itself may be the problem.
Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated

If you can get your hands on a wiring schematic, find the wire that feeds the gauge, put a fluke meter on the wire and move the float up and down, watch the resistance increase and decrease on the Ohm scale. The sending unit will need removed to check this however.[sm=headbang.gif]

I had the same problem a few years back and the gage needed replacing.

If not the gueage it might be the sending unit in the tank.
