Front turn signal issues

Front turn signal issues
Hey folks, first time poster here. Looking for any help I can get:
2002 Camaro. A couple of days ago my turn signals stopped working. When I would try to turn them on, the light on the dash stayed on. So I bought new bulbs all around. Changed out the back with no problems, but signal light on dash still stays on. Went to change the front bulbs and found this on both sides. Can I just replace the sockets, or is this a sign of bigger issues? And if I can just replace the sockets, what is the best way to do it. Thanks in advance.

I just bought a 2000 SS and the turn signals lights in the front were not working. So I went to replace them and found both sockets were badly burnt just like the pictures above. I bought replacement sockets and bulbs which worked when I initally tested. Two days later, I noticed one was not working. When I went to check the bad side, the bulb had gotten so hot that it melted the plastic unit it plugs into. The bulb was melted into the unit.
So I think there is more going on than a bad bulb. This is a very clean car and it doesn't look like anyone has done any creative wiring. Is it possible the flasher relay has a problem?
... maybe a stupid question, but these bulbs (4157) can be plugged either direction right? (180 deg)
thanks, Brad

Mine were burned to a crisp too. I changed the worse of the two. At $40 each, if it still works it's no getting replaced. Tiny lense with a bulb that stays on all the time with the DRL's. As stated above, maybe run a bulb that draws less.

I ended up replacing the sockets and the bulbs, but the same thing happened after about a month. Took it to a mechanic who drives a 97 Z, and he said he had the same problem at one time. He replaced the sockets and bulbs, and the flasher relay, and now everything works fine.
