Default Foglight bulb replacement question

PLEASE DON'T CRUCIFY ME!!!!!

I have a 95 and I replaced my foglight bulbs to 100W H3's (swapped the lenses as well) When I turn on the foglights with the car off, the 20 amp fuse holds it and the lights stay on. However, when the car is on, the fuse blows. I tried a 30 amp and it blew as well, but held when the car was not on. Is it possible that the problem is the initial load on the fuse when the car is on, and if that is the case, can I go to a higher rated fuse (eg 40 amp or 50 amp) AND will the stock wiring be ok? I don't care if they get a little warm. I just don't want them to catch fire. Again, I am not familiar with vehicle electrical systems, so please don't jump my gun... Thanks in advance.

I would not put a fuse in it that would even allow it to get warm. Heat destroys wiring and sooner or later, you will burn out the wiring harness. The wiring harnesses are designed for a specific load and overloading it not only will burn the internal wires but could also melt fuse boxes and start a fire.

when the alternator is charging the battery is brought up to operating voltage. around 14 volts running and drops to around 12 when not. i have 60w lights on the boat that use 15 amps for two. i think u may have overdone it a little.

Well... 40 amp fuse + 20 amp harness + 2 100W H3's = BAD...I started a fire... Nothing major as it burned one of my wires and not the factory harness... So I just wired the lamps to a switch and put it where the stock foglight switch goes. Those f*****s are bright... So I learned my lesson. And have melted plastic stuck to my bumper to remind me...
