Default finally gonna get my z rear end

So as most of you know Ive been wanting to convert my plain sixxer rear for a fancy preowned z rear for a while. Evertime I was set to buy it something happened. It it either wasn't compatible, seller flaked or I was broke. 2 maro I'm going to pull one from a 95 z for $90. It is also 3.23 geared and non traction controlled. It has the disk brakes still attached aswell as everything else. This is last week when I checked it. Hopefully its all still there. I also saw another that had 2.73 gu2 code so I was wondering in the event that the rear end is already taken or missing the gears how hard will It be to swap out my 3.23 gears if possible? Either on the one that came with 3.23 or the one that has 2.73. When I install I will try to take plenty of pics and try to write a tutorial for those that want to do it. Wish me luck. Super siked to get rid of my ****ty drums!!!

You can switch out the gears but it would be the whole carrier and pinion. It's not worth it as you'd lose your posi doing that. Your best to what until you get one that has 3.23 or 3.42 gears. Anything that is 3.08 or less is a 2 series carrier and those are harder to find gears for.

you can switch gears but you would also have to switch the pinion as well. the kit to do this is not cheap. add to that if your not a experianced person in settting the gears up you will most likely not get it right and end up toasting the unit. i would recomend you change the entire rear end.

I still have to resurface the rotors and paint the rear and calipers before i install. It will probably be about a month before it goes in. Im at the wrecking yards everyday, literally. There is not a camaro at a junkyard in sacramentos 50 mile radius that has not been touched by me. With that being said there wasnt anything left to take. There was a lt1 shortblock with 200k and a stripped tranny from which i pullled the rear from. What i was looking for was a ls1 so i could grab the dual piston brakes. The v6s are also supposed to come with dual piston brakes 98-02 but both that i found dont. The rear came from a 95 3.23 z28.
