Unhappy Gonna be fun

Hey guys, I am diving into a real mess here. My wife's friend had to borrow my 95 drop top and now the 3.4 is stuck like glue. Is there a good post to follow on the engine swap? Getting a 3.4 from pull a part for under 200, if it is still there. any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks
Dana

IF you are going from engine to engine them follow Socom's build thread or Darling Reject's thread. I know DR did a 3.8L but the actual swap is about the same. I would drop the engine out the bottom and leave it intact going out and completely assembled going back in. Much easier to put the heads and intake on when the engine is out of the car. Even if you get a Camaro/Firebird engine, replace all the gaskets and dont forget that the head bolts are Torque To Yield so they can only be used once. Any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for the help, I don't know about dropping through the bottom. I do not have a garage, but I can build a way to hoist the car up. It might be possible I have a 2 ton chain-fall and floor jack. If I build a frame it should work. Just need some heavy timbers.

I used the cherry picker to lift the car, and a floor jack to lower the engine, trans and K member down from where the car was sitting. The engine came down first then I lifted the car with the cherry picker high enough for me to slide the engine out. Trust us when we say it is much easier to go from the bottom.

Thanks again for the info. I do trust you guys about the easiest way, I just have to figure out how. Now that I have some ideas on the best way I can get it started. I have the Haynes book and are pretty mechanically inclined so I should be able to handle it. I did review both posts that Massey suggested, still looks like a lot of work, but I have time. Thanks again for everything.
