Default Fiberglass SS hood questions

I have some questions about the fiberglass SS hood that I would like to know the answer to before I sell or use my new hood...

I got a new hood for my 96' Z28 (my brother hit a deer). I wanted to get the real deal from SLP but it was too expensive so i figured i just get a good fiberglass one and save somemoney. I tried tog et a good one and ended up waiting about 3 months for my hood (i hate ebay) but anyway, I do not think it's functional. This, as you probly know, is really gay and made me really mad since i alreayd waited so long for my hood. I don't think it's possible to ge tmy money back since it's been so long so I think i am just going to sell it. But What I want to try and make sure of is whether or not it is functional. So some questions i would like answered are: are all fiberglass hoods the same? functional or non-functional? where is the inlet on the bottom side? does anyone have a pic of the underside of a functional SS hood so i can compare?

It doesn't have any openings in the center of the underside of the hood, but it does way towards the front. I am about 90% sure that it's not functional, but then again, I've never seen the bottom of another SS hood.

Also, the RAM air intake kit from SLP says it doesn't work with vehicles with traction control. Is there a way around this, is there another kit?

Thanks for your help!

Aftermarket fiberglass SS hoods come both in functional and non-functional. The thing is, you would need the air intake off a 96 or 97 SS for the hood to work right with car anyways. Besides all that even the functional SS hoods do add any measurable HP, so I would not sweat it.

do add measurable HP? or don't add? compared to what stock? or other aftermarket intake? A ram air system isn't going to add that much on a dyno because it's sitting still, so it doesn't have the air being forced in.

I think he meant to say, do not add measurable horsepower. To even see the difference, you have to be well up to speed anyways.

Sorry I meant does NOT add measurable hp. Ram airs need to be up over 100 mph to add anything and even then it's not much, the bigger concern is getting COOL air from outside the engine bay.

For an LT1 I always used the K&N FIPK kit and liked it. I also would do the IAT sensor relocation.

have you compared the K&N with the SLP intake? Do i still have to drill holes or whatever for the IAT relocation if i get a new intake? I don't remember the steps, I just remember reading about it.

could anyone do me a huge favor and just take a pic of the underside of their functional SS hood and post it so i can compare?

And does anyone know how much HP the ram air adds over stock intake? Or which cold air intake is better?

a lot of guys open the hole where the air comes in bigger and seal it off around it with some type of compressable foam so it only pulls air from the opening of the air box and not from inside under the hood.
