which is fastest from the factory? (4th gen)

This question has been discussed time and time again. It all boils down to LS1 > LT1 > 3.8 > 3.4. The SS is no faster than the Z28 in a 1/4 mile (may do slightly better around a track due to a slightly upgraded suspension) for the LS1 years, and only slightly faster in the LT1 years due to a vastly superior intake.

not really related but thought i'd put it out there anyhow 5th gen ss has about 422 hp and the 2011 Z/28 will have 550 hp thanks to the cadillac cts-v

I really think the 422 horsepower is needed with all that extra bulk the new Camaro is carrying around.

If only the interior weren't so ugly. LOL. I guess it may grow on me about 10 years from now.

Anyway, the LS1 received some minor tweaks in 2001 so I would give the slight advantage to Z28's and SS's from 01-02.

ya when i got mine i had a choice between my lt1 z28 and a ls1z28 but mine was in better condition but sometimes i regret it

Nothing wrong with an LT1 at all.
