Default Which fan is my engine cooling fam?

Hello I own a 02 3.8 and my fan seems to always run when the car is on no matter if cold or hot.. As I'm looking from the front of the engine which is my cooling fan and which is my ac fan? Thanks in advance

Mine's a Z28 and has two fans. They are both cooling fans. Looking from the front, the one on the drivers side is always on at one speed, the one on the left comes on as needed and is 2 speed. On mine, one (drivers side) runs all the time and the second one (passenger side) has two speeds, low and high. The speed is dependant on engine temperature and AC. If the temp gets too hot orthe AC is on, the 2nd fan runs at high speed. At least I think thats how it works. It's kinda hard to tell if they are running on low speed because I can't hear them over the engine noise and i can;t see the fans themselves, but I can hear when it (they) go to high speed. There are 3 relays for the fans. One for fan #1 and 2 for fan#2, which is why I assume fan 1 is always on and fan 2 has two speeds.

After 1994 GM used two speed fans that serve both to cool the engine and the AC. Depending on need; both fans stop, run at low speed, or run at high speed.
